Magical Machines

The central machines that maintain magic within the world. They include the:

  • Kynnis Monolith
Buried under the Magocracy building on the ground in Underkynnis. The Kynnis Monolith is used by the Magocracy to make mages from the children provided by the ITC. The Kynnis Monolith has four sections: The Oven (where mages are made), The Factory (which is inaccessible), The Tower (which is the part of the monolith which connects to the Magocracy Building) and The Orchard, which is an ancient art gallery.
  • Vanek Monolith
Located at the center of the Vanek Magic Works in Undervanek. The Vanek Monolith is used by the Magocracy to build magical devices ranging from buoyancy engines to (extremely expensive) self-sharpening cutlery.
  • Evenn Monolith
The Evenn Monolith is part of the central machine complex in the sky city of Evenn and is the only monolith known to exist in the sky. The Evenn Monolith has two major areas: the Temple of Lexa (where some children are made mages, and others are sacrificed to the goddess)and the Sky Foundery (where pirates build and repair magitech).
  • Gettis Monolith
Ancient records refer to a fourth monolith on Gettis (along with other monoliths, presumably outside the Sea Wall). Since the collapse of the Second Empire, the island of Gettis has been forbidden to mankind.
  • Lake Krant Cathedral
Lake Krant sits in the southeastern reaches of West Caltia. Ancient records state that Krant, the king of the Gods of Piracy lies sleeping at the bottom of his lake. Ground-dwellers in the area tell stories of seeing movement at the lake’s center. The Magocracy archives contains a report from a group of mages that went to study the lake in 1457. The report detailed events where the water in the lake disappeared and a massive structure emerged from an impossibly deep hole.
  • Beltacta Tower
A massive ziggurat-shaped tower on the outskirts of Underbeltacta that rises up above Beltacta City. The tower regularly reconfigures its exterior geometry and is completely inaccessible.
  • The Grand Machine
The single piece of lost technology that controls and coordinates all the grand systems of the world. The Grand Machine controls the world’s nanological systems, along with the gravitational and teleportation control systems. The system is personified by the CENtral OPerational COntrol prograM (CENOPCOM)
